In addition to offering private guided walking tours, we also provide step-on guiding services for groups coming into Newport on their own coach.
We currently also have 3 self-guided audio tours in Newport which can be used to guide you around the city, or as a virtual tour to learn more about the history of the City By The Sea.
The Quieter Side of newport

Step off the beaten path and hear about the history of the downtown Newport area. This walk will leave the busy waterfront district and Thames St. area to highlight the colonial history of Newport and Rhode Island. You will see architecture from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, including buildings visited by George Washington and homes of early abolitionists. Along the way you'll hear stories about the historical figures that helped to shape the Newport that we know today. This walk is approximately 1.5 miles and last about an hour and half to two hours.
Recommended starting location: Perrotti Park on America's Cup Ave.
Rogues and rakes of the gilded age

This walk will focus on the characters of Newport who lived in, or frequented, the area during the period of history referred to as The Gilded Age. You'll hear stories of the people who owned the "summer cottages," as well as stories about the staff who made the running of these estates possible, and the architects and artists who designed them. The walk is roughly 1.5 miles long and lasts about 2 hours. As this is a private tour, the length of the walk can be customized to your preferences.
Recommended starting location: Outside Rough Point on Bellevue Ave.
(please be aware there is extremely limited public parking near Bellevue Ave. We recommend taking the #67 trolley or Uber/Lyft)
Providence highlights tour

Stroll the beautiful and historic East Side of Providence to learn about Roger Williams and the founding of the city of Providence and the colony of Rhode Island. The walk continues downcity to explore the modern city that Providence has become. The walk is roughly 1.5 miles long and takes about an hour and a half to two hours. Please be advised that there is a very steep hill on the East Side.
Recommended starting location: Providence Visitor Center at 1 Sabin St.
Slave trade, slavery and abolition in RI
$300
Rhode Island played a significant role in the early Atlantic slave trade. Newport at one point became the epicenter of the trade for all of North America. This walk through the downtown Newport area will highlight the role that Rhode Island played in this dark period of history. The tour will focus on how Newport and RI grew on the profits gained from the institution of slavery, as well as introduce abolitionists from the area and discuss how abolition was achieved in Rhode Island.
